2014 Cinch Shootout from Cheyenne Frontier Days

The first ever Cinch Shootout from the historic Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo is in the books and it did not disappoint. featuring the very best names in Professional Rodeo, the Cinch Shootout , held July 18, was a one day, two round format featuring 40 contestants in five different events. The events featured in the Shootout were Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc riding, Barrel racing and Bull Riding.

    The contestant field was made up from teams selected by the eight richest rodeos in the sport, sending their respective Champions to represent the rodeo and compete for the one day, winner take all $10,000 payout per event. The rodeos represented in the shootout were the Cheyenne frontier days, Reno rodeo, Rodeo Austin, Denver Stock Show and Rodeo, San Antonio Stock show and Rodeo, Calgary Stampede, Ft. Worth stock Show and Rodeo, and Rodeo Houston.

With a Champion from each rodeo, their were eight contestants in each event, who all competed in one round, with the top four after round one, advancing to the four man winner take all shootout round. The fans had a unique opportunity to cast their vote for match ups in the roughstock by looking at the rider list, the stock list, then texting the matchups they wanted to see. The matchups with the most votes were made and that’s how they drew the roughstock. The Cinch Shootout was the first full performance to kick off the Cheyenne Frontier Days. The complete P.R.C.A. Rodeo performances will kick off today, running daily through next week with the top ten after two rounds of competition coming back for the Championship Round.
